Government to pitch for housing investment at international property event
Housing minister James Browne said this is an 'important opportunity' to build 'new mutually beneficial partnerships to deliver homes'.
The Department of Housing has announced that it will host an Irish pavilion at the major international property investment event Marché International des Professionels de l'Immoblier (MIPIM) in March as it seeks investment for housing development.
The event attracts numerous international property developers each year and presents an opportunity for Ireland to attract private investment to support the supply of new homes across the country.
The event will take place in Cannes, France, from March 9 to 12.
Housing minister James Browne said this is an “important opportunity to tell our story and showcase our strengths to the world and build new mutually beneficial partnerships to deliver homes, responding to the need we have".
“We are determined to create the best possible environment for building and investment. Investment is at the heart of our ambitions to deliver the homes needed.
"That is why we are enabling critical space for private capital to complement the largest ever levels of State investment in our history in infrastructure and housebuilding,” he added.
According to the Department of Housing, an estimated €20bn per year in development finance is required to deliver at least 300,000 new homes by 2030.
It said with strong international competition for private investment and decreasing trends in the inflow of such capital to Ireland in recent years, MIPIM 2026 is an “important opportunity for Ireland to promote itself as an investment destination for residential and related development”.
The Irish delegation to the event will include Government representatives, national agencies, regional authorities, private sector partners, and subject matter experts.
