In total, over 2.3 million passengers departed Ireland on overseas routes during August of which 33.1% or 763,600 were foreign visitors. On average, they spent €1,437 on their trip here.  

The number of foreign visitors travelling to Ireland in August increased by 3.5% compared to the same month last year but stayed for shorter periods, new data from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) shows.

According to the data, approximately 763,600 visitors completed a trip to Ireland in August of which the largest contingent, 35.7%, were people coming over from Britain. The next largest contingent at 18.8% were visitors travelling from the US followed by visitors from Germany and France, both at 7.4%.
