Inflation declines in April as energy prices continue to fall 

Food prices increased by 2.6% in the year to April — running ahead of headline inflation of 1.6%. 

The annual inflation rate in Ireland has declined to 1.6% during April as energy prices continue to decline, the latest flash estimates from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) shows.

According to the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), the annual inflation fell slightly compared to the March figure of 1.7% while the eurozone average stood at 2.4%. The HICP is an index of consumer prices that allows for a comparison across the eurozone countries.
