Chief executive of Limerick Chamber, Dee Ryan has announced her intention to seek the Fianna Fáil nomination for the upcoming Directly Elected Mayor position.
The mother of four has been the CEO of Limerick Chamber since 2018, and has represented the local business community across various boards and two government task forces, the Implementation Advisory Group for Directly Elected Mayor upon whose report to Government in 2020 the legislation for the new role was based, and most recently on the Shannon Estuary Economic Taskforce.
“I’m committed to working for Limerick city and county and look forward to engaging with the Fianna Fail Oireachtas members, Councillors and party members in this internal selection process," Ms Ryan said.
"If nominated and successful in the upcoming election my priorities would be delivery of affordable housing, improved transport and connectivity across the county and seizing the green energy opportunity from the Estuary to secure sustainable jobs for Limerick into the future."
Hailing from Castleconnell, Ms Ryan attended the University of Limerick where she studied business. She then ran an SME ‘Spark Marketing’ in the city centre for 14 years.
In her time as Chamber CEO, Ms Ryan has called for improved connectivity to Shannon airport and has highlighted the lack of affordable housing in Limerick.
Fianna Fáil is expected to hold its selection convention in the coming weeks.
