Amazon announces plans to add over 200 jobs in Ireland

The e-commerce giant has also announced an increase to its minimum starting pay for frontline operations employees in Ireland

E-commerce giant Amazon has announced an increase to its minimum starting pay for frontline operations employees in Ireland of €17.10 an hour as it plans 200 new jobs in its facilities in Dublin.

According to the company, the new rate represents a 65c increase per hour for its workers and it takes effect from September 27.

The national minimum wage in Ireland is currently €14.15 an hour but this is expected to be increased again during the budget next month.

The company is also planning to hire over 200 new frontline workers at its fulfilment centre in Baldonnel, and its two distribution centres. Its fulfilment centre alone now supports over 700 roles.

Alongside the pay increase, Amazon is introducing free Amazon Prime membership for all eligible frontline employees in Ireland for the first time this year.

Amazon's regional director for Amazon Logistics in UK and Ireland, Darragh Kelly, said: "Our frontline employees are at the heart of everything we do, and this pay increase reflects our continued commitment to investing in the people who make Amazon work for customers every day.

"We're proud that starting pay in Ireland has increased by approximately 27% since 2022, and with the addition of free Prime membership alongside our existing benefits, we're offering one of the most competitive total compensation packages in the sector."

The company added that workers are eligible for benefits such as access to the company’s pension plan, employee discounts, flexible shift options, as well as a pay rise after the first 36 months for eligible employees and anniversary bonuses.
