The operator of Cork and Dublin airports has been appointed as a partner to help operate a new international airport currently under construction in Vietnam.

Daa International, the global management, consulting and investment arm of DAA will become an operational partner for Gia Binh International Airport in Hanoi, one of the country’s most significant new aviation infrastructure projects.

Gia Binh International Airport is under construction, 40 kilometres from Hanoi. It forms part of a wider vision for the continued economic growth and development of Vietnam and the Gia Binh district.

The airport is planned to have a capacity of up to 30 million passengers and 1.6 million tonnes of cargo per year by 2030, with a long‑term ambition to reach 50 million passengers and 2.5 million tonnes of cargo by 2050.

Designed to meet five‑star international standards and benchmarked against leading global airports, Gia Binh International Airport is intended to become a flagship aviation, trade and logistics hub, supported by modern operational systems, a strong commercial offering and extensive global connectivity.

The appointment follows a strategic partnership between daa International and Masterise Aviation Infrastructure Joint Stock Company.

Under the partnership, daa International will work closely with Masterise to support the development and day-to-day operation of the airport. This will include input across key areas such as airport development planning, certification and regulatory readiness, operational concept design, commercial strategy, operational readiness and airport management.

Nicholas Cole, daa Deputy CEO and chief executive officer of daa International, said: “We are proud to partner with Masterise Aviation Infrastructure on the development of Gia Binh International Airport.

"This is a landmark project for Vietnam, and we look forward to bringing daa International’s experience and Irish aviation heritage to support the delivery of a high‑quality, future‑focused airport that sets new benchmarks for connectivity, passenger experience, and operational excellence. Just as importantly, we look forward to working alongside our partners to develop long-term local capability and expertise within Vietnam.”
