US-founded fast food chain Popeyes has announced the opening of its first Irish store, joining the growing number of international fast food chains to expand into the Republic.

The company, first founded in New Orleans, said it will open its first Irish restaurant in Blanchardstown on June 6, creating more than 80 jobs at the Green Mall.

The fast food giant added that it will also open a second Dublin venue, with a new restaurant in Liffey Valley Shopping Centre opening in the coming weeks.

Popeyes joins other US-founded food chains to launch in Ireland, following the launch of fast-food franchise Wendys at Mahon Point Shopping Centre in Cork, and California-founded Taco Bell, which since September 2025, has opened five restaurants across Ireland, including one in Ballincollig, Co. Cork.

“We are so excited to be opening the first Popeyes in Dublin, Ireland next month," said UK and Ireland chief executive, Tom Crowley.

"There has been such an incredible appetite to bring the brand to Ireland, and we are pleased to now officially announce its opening on June 6th."

"Opening Popeyes in Ireland is an incredible milestone for the brand - a testament to its global reach and the incredible demand for its chicken."

Popeyes said it will bring favourites, including hot wings, tenders, chicken wraps, classic biscuits with Cajun gravy, hand-spun shakes and a 100% plant-based vegan sandwich to Dublin.

From Sunday, June 7, Popeyes said the restaurant will also serve its breakfast menu until 10.30 am Monday to Sunday.

Connor Owens, chief executive of Falcon AM, the asset management company of Blanchardstown Centre, said: “Anticipation is building for the opening of Popeyes at Blanchardstown Centre, which will be its first location in the Irish market.

"Popeyes is the latest global brand to establish its first store at Ireland’s premier retail and leisure destination, and we are delighted to welcome them to Blanchardstown Centre."
