Corkman Ray O'Driscoll has been confirmed as the new chief executive of Shannon Airport Group.

Mr O'Driscoll has been serving as interim chief executive at Shannon since September 2025, following the departure of Mary Considine to take up the role as CEO of Irish Rail. Mr O'Driscoll was previously deputy CEO and chief operating officer, having joined Shannon Airport Group in 2014 as managing director of Shannon Commercial Enterprises, the group’s commercial property division.

"Having worked within the organisation since 2014, I have witnessed the incredible dedication of our teams and the vital role the group plays in enhancing regional connectivity, supporting economic development, and contributing to Ireland’s aviation and commercial landscape," said Mr O'Driscoll.

“I look forward to continuing this work alongside the board, our partners, and our committed colleagues. Together, we will build on our strategic priorities, strengthen our offering for airport passengers and customers, further enhance our commercial property activities at the Shannon Airport Business Park, and drive positive growth for the region and the communities we serve.”

Last week, Shannon Airport Group reported pre-tax profits of €30.5m after the company carried more than 2.3m passengers in 2025, its best travel numbers in 16 years. Meanwhile construction is continuing on a €13m commercial property development at Shannon Airport Business Park to deliver two new ndustrial units, Blocks Y and Block Z, adding 100,000 sq. ft. of sustainable space available for lease. The business park is home to over 300 companies and 10,000 employees.

Mr O'Driscoll has overseen the transformation of the organisation’s property portfolio as well as advancing aviation development and commercial growth at Shannon Airport. He previously held senior finance roles with Barry Group and Eurologic Systems Ltd, having begun his career with EY in Cork.

Transport minister Darragh O'Brien said the Shannon Airport Group is "uniquely placed to act as a catalyst for further economic growth, and its 2024–2028 strategic plan positions it to deliver substantial benefits for the local, regional and national economy. I would like to extend my best wishes to Ray as he takes up his new role as CEO, and I am confident that he will lead the Group to continued and further growth in the coming years.”

Established in 2014, the Shannon Airport Group is a commercial semi-state organisation that owns and operates Shannon Airport and manages an extensive commercial property portfolio. Alongside the airport, the group develops and manages the Shannon Airport Business Park, which includes aviation, aerospace, logistics, advanced manufacturing, technology, and R&D enterprises.

Conal Henry, chair of The Shannon Airport Group, said: “The board is delighted to confirm the appointment of Ray O’Driscoll as Chief Executive Officer of The Shannon Airport Group. Ray has demonstrated exceptional leadership, professionalism and commitment throughout his tenure to date, including during his period as Deputy CEO and then Interim CEO."
