The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has issued a recall notice regarding a fault on some bicycles that could lead to potentially fatal injuries.

The recall is on some models of Cube road bikes. Cube is a premium German cycle manufacturer, and there are approximately 190 affected products in the Republic of Ireland, according to the CCPC.

"The product presents a risk of injury. During normal use, cracking or sudden breakage may occur in the bicycle forks which can lead to falls and significant injuries," said a notice on the CCPC website.

The recall applies to all Cube Agree C:62 bikes from the 2025 and 2026 model years that were delivered or sold before November 30, 2025, according to the manufacturer. The CCPC advises consumers who have purchased one of these products to "please stop use immediately. Affected products can be returned to an authorised CUBE dealer for a free inspection and replacement of the bicycle fork."

A statement on the Cube website said use of bikes affected by this recall must stop "immediately and without exception until the fork has been checked and affected forks replaced!"

"After analysing a small number of reported cases of cracks forming above the brake mount on our Agree C:62 carbon fibre forks, it was found that a change to the resin material as of model year 2025 may lead to isolated forks having an insufficient resin content in this area.

"As a result, in rare cases the fork may not meet Cube's own safety and quality standards in the event of high braking force. These conditions could cause the outermost carbon layers to delaminate, causing cracks and significantly weakening the fork structure, through to a complete failure of the left fork blade. The described product defect increases the risk of an accident, which can cause material damage, serious injuries or even fatal injuries."

The affected frame sizes are 47cm, 50cm, 53cm, 56cm, 58cm, 60cm, 62cm, according to Cube.

The affected bikes are:
