MTU's sustainability plan to foster a generation of thought leaders

Prof Maggie Cusack (front, centre), president of MTU, signing the MTU Energy Policy at the launch of MTU’s Sustainability Strategy 2025-35, with (front row) Brendan O’Connell, MTU’s climate action and sustainability champion, and Louise Byrne, MTU’s sustainability project coordinator; (back row) Paul Gallagher VP for finance and operations, MTU, with Michael Coughlan, Kevin McCarthy, Aidan O'Sullivan and Donal Hunt, members of MTU’s energy team.

MTU expects a wave of thought leaders and green entrepreneurs will emerge from its ambitious 10-year Sustainability Strategy (2025-35), a roadmap to integrate sustainability in all areas of life across its six campuses.

Local authorities in Cork and Kerry are engaging with MTU’s vision to become a ‘Living Lab’ for sustainability. Students, staff, local councils and other regional partners will use the shared on-campus data to inform energy-saving and climate action initiatives to benefit society; and many among the current cohort of 18,000 MTU students will go on to careers driving sustainability across Irish and global communities.
