Three Ireland names next chief executive
Incoming chief executive of Three Ireland Elaine Carey.
Telecommunications company Three Ireland has named its chief commercial officer Elaine Carey as its new chief executive, succeeding Robert Finnegan in the role.
Ms Carey is due to take up the role in the second quarter of this year. Mr Finnegan is to take over a new position as deputy chairman of Three Ireland’s parent company CK Hutchison Telecoms Group.
In her current role, Ms Carey oversees commercial operations in the UK and Ireland. Her remit also covers Three’s successful sponsorships of 3Arena and 3Olympia, as well as the company’s digital and brand marketing.
Ms Carey first joined the company in 2007 as head of retail before being appointed chief commercial officer in 2013. Her role expanded to cover the UK in 2020.
On her appointment, Ms Carey said she was “very proud to take over the leadership of Ireland’s largest mobile telecommunications provider” and she was looking forward “to driving continued success for our business”.
Mr Finnegan, who has been chief executive of Three Ireland since the company launched in 2005, also became chief executive of Three UK in April 2020.
“Under Elaine’s leadership, I am confident that Three Ireland will continue to thrive and evolve as the business moves forward. I wish her the very best of luck," he said.
