Samantha Barry appointed as Glamour's global chief
Cork native Samantha Barry has been appointed Glamour’s first global editorial director.

Condé Nast announced the appointment of Ms Barry, who has been the editor-in-chief of since 2018. In her new role, she will oversee all content strategy for across the brand’s global editions in Germany, Mexico and Latin America, Spain, Britain, and the US.
“As I step into this global editorial director role, I am excited to harness storied legacy and amplify the voices of women worldwide,” she said. “The teams around the world — in Germany, Mexico, Spain, the UK, and the US — have done a phenomenal job of telling the stories of women across every platform with content that not only informs and entertains, but inspires action and advocacy."
Anna Wintour, Condé Nast's chief content officer and global editorial director at added: “I can’t think of a stronger leader to become first-ever global editorial director.
“Sam has successfully led into its digital future. She is passionate and cares deeply about what matters most to women today as shown through her powerful advocacy for issues like paid family leave. I’m incredibly excited for next era under her direction.”
Ms Barry has overseen the transition of into a digital-first brand growing its audience and engagement. She has also evolved the annual Women of the Year Awards into a global event.
Prior to joining Condé Nast, Barry, from Ballincollig, served as executive producer at CNN where she ran the global social and emerging media teams. She serves on the advisory board of Goals House and Room to Read and recently received an honorary doctorate from Ulster University.
Speaking on the Business Podcast series this month, Ms Barry spoke about cutting her journalistic teeth in the UK and using the deep-rooted connections the Irish diaspora has established around the globe.
