Top European court rules Apple must pay Ireland €13bn in long-running tax case 

The long-running saga begin in 2016 when the European Commission found that Apple received illegal State aid from Ireland between the years 2003 and 2014 and declaring iPhone-maker owed more than €13bn in back taxes. 

Europe’s highest court has ruled against tech giant Apple in its latest legal bid against a €13bn tax order the EU Commission said it must pay to Ireland.

The Court of Justice of the European Union said it is setting aside the ruling of the EU's General Court which quashed the order in 2020.
