Limerick-headquartered firm ESS Group has acquired Critical Airflow Europe (CAE) for an undisclosed amount.

Established more than 30 years ago, ESS works to deliver sustainable solutions across several industries including manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, transport, education and utilities.

The firm has offices in both Cork and Dublin in addition to its Limerick headquarters. The group includes three companies; Engineering Support & Services (ESS), Eirdata, and the newly joined CAE.

Headquartered in Wycombe, CAE is referred to as a "European leader" in delivering safe energy efficient laboratory control and critical airflow applications.

The company's systems work to ensure environmental integrity and energy efficiency by integrating pressurisation control, temperature, humidity, hazardous exhaust, and demand side ventilation.

Having recently won a number of contracts in Ireland, CAE will upgrade the Phoenix Control Systems throughout the Pfizer Ireland Pharmaceuticals facility at Grange Castle in Dublin and is also contracted to supply a fully integrated package of energy management systems in the new €60 million national laboratory for Uisce Éireann in Limerick City.

The firm is the exclusive UK and Republic of Ireland distributor for manufacturers Phoenix Controls, Strobic Air Corporation and Aircuity.

“I am thrilled to officially welcome Critical Airflow Europe into the ESS family," said Bernard Yore, ESS Group CEO.

"Our longstanding partnership over the years has laid a solid foundation, and this acquisition marks a significant milestone for the company."

Ray Wall, Managing Director at Critical Airflow, added, "Myself and my team are thrilled about this new chapter in our journey as we join forces with the ESS Group.

"Our shared values and goals make this partnership a natural fit and we are excited about the potential it holds. We're eager to elevate our collective performance and offer even greater value to our clients based in Ireland, the UK, the EU and beyond. We're optimistic about the mutual benefits it will bring to both teams and our valued customers."
