Motor dealer Johnson & Perrott unveils executive changes
George Mills, CEO, and Mark Whitaker, chair, of Johnson & Perrott.
Motor dealership Johnson & Perrott has appointed Mark Whitaker as chair of its board and George Mills as its new CEO.
The executive changes will come into effect in April, when Mark will leave his current CEO role to take on his new role as chair of the board, with George moving into his vacated CEO seat.
The executive changes come on the back of a very successful trading year for the company, which operates dealerships at Mahon Point Retail Park, Douglas Road and Bishopstown, Cork.
Accounts show that the group recorded increased pre-tax profits for 2022, its most recently published reported accounts, up by 19% to €8.7m, based on revenues rising by 3% from €130.84 million to €135.22m versus 2021.
The family-owned motor retailer is one of the largest motor dealerships in the country. It represents ten car franchises, namely Cupra, Honda, Jaguar, Kia, Land Rover, Opel, MG, Peugeot, Seat and Volvo.
The business also represents two commercial vehicle franchises, Opel and Peugeot as approved sales and after-sales dealers. It also operates a retail used vehicle outlet at its Bishopstown dealership, which trades under the brand name Motorstore.ie.
Mark Whitaker said: “I am hugely proud of what our team of 220 professionals have achieved in my time as CEO. This is down to the commitment of our staff and adhering to the core family values on which our business is founded.
“This is the first time the group will be led by an individual from outside of the shareholding family and represents a milestone in our development into a truly professionally managed family-owned organisation.”
Mark has played a pivotal part in the company since 1990 and has been CEO for the last 23 years. During his time as CEO, Mark has developed the group into one of Ireland’s most successful motor retailers and one of Cork’s most respected family companies.
In his new role as chairperson, Mark will focus on the future strategy of the group and supporting the new leadership team.
George Mills brings extensive prior experience in the motor and other industries to his new role as CEO. He joined Johnson & Perrott in 2013 as managing director of its motor dealerships division.
During his time, George has been instrumental in the expansion of the division and building of Johnson & Perrott’s market share in Cork.
