Airlines and regulators meet to discuss 737 Max future

Airlines and regulators are gathering in Montreal to discuss a safe and co-ordinated return of Boeing’s grounded 737 Max jets to the skies, following two deadly crashes. The meeting, organised by the industry trade group International Air Transport Association (IATA), comes as airlines grapple with the financial impact of the global grounding of nearly 400 737 Max jets.

The grounding has lasted three months. Boeing, the world’s largest planemaker, has yet to formally submit proposed 737 Max software and training updates to the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which will kick-start a re-certification process that could take weeks.
