Irish Ferries is to get a new cruise ferry for €144m.

Irish Continental Group say it will accommodate 1,885 passengers and crew, with 435 cabins and capacity for around 165 freight vehicles and an additional dedicated car deck with capacity for 300 cars.

The new ferry is scheduled for delivery in May 2018.

Passenger facilities will be spread over four decks with bars, restaurants, a premium Club Class lounge, shops and cinemas.

The company said it is likely to operate it on the year-round services between Dublin and Holyhead and their Ireland to France service on weekends.
