Protesters call for review of tax dealings with multinationals

A protest has taken place this morning outside the Department of Finance calling on the Government to make its tax deals with multinationals clear.

The Debt and Development Coalition handed out apples to protest at the alleged low levels of tax Apple pays in Ireland.

They claim the rate of corporate tax Apple and other companies are paying is far lower than it should be.

Eamonn Casey from the Debt and Development Coalition said: "We don’t know what applies to Google, Facebook or other companies. We're looking for the Public Accounts Committee to have a review of the tax-ruling system and see do the cost-benefits stack up for Ireland."
