€1bn lent by Bank of Ireland for mortgages last year

Bank of Ireland has said that it lent more than €1bn in mortgages to customers in 2012.

The bank, which provided around 40% of all mortgages in Ireland last year, said that the €1bn figure refers to new loans drawn down.
