Up to 6,000 new jobs could be created if consumers spent just €4 more on Irish products every week, SIPTU has said.

The union today launched their Support Quality campaign to protect and create jobs in the Irish manufacturing industry.

The campaign will identify and promote brands made by companies who provide working conditions the union deems "unionised and fair".

Marketing director of the campaign Fabia Gavin said consumers should strive to support Irish jobs when shopping for gifts and other products.
