The Justice Minister Alan Shatter is planning to regulate the "Cash for Gold" industry in a clampdown on rogue traders.
Fine Gael MEP Jim Higgins has said he has received confirmation from Mr Shatter that he will soon introduce a range of measures to regulate these types of stores.
