New car sales down 49% year-on-year

The number of new cars sold in November was down 49% on the same month last year, according to figures published today by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).

SIMI said the decline in sales continues the trend of the past three months, although figures for the year so far are on a par with 2010.
