Dublin Airport sees 3% drop in September passenger numbers
Dublin Airport saw a 3% year-on-year decline in passenger numbers in September with 1.7m people travelling through the facility, the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) said today.
The DAA said the decline was due to a fall in domestic air traffic and reduced capacity by a major carrier.
Domestic passenger numbers declined by 77%, with just over 7,000 people taking domestic flights last month.
But excluding domestic numbers, the reduction was just under 2%.
Passenger volumes to and from continental Europe fell by 3%, with 930,000 passengers travelling on these routes last month.
UK traffic also recorded a 3% decline with 575,000 passengers.
However, transatlantic routes to North America saw an increase of 12% during September with over 165,000 people using these routes from the capital's airport.
Other international passenger traffic - principally flights to the Middle East and North Africa - declined by 8% in the same period.
