Discount grocery chains Aldi and Lidl continue to outshine their “big four” supermarket rivals as consumers tighten their belts, figures from research Kantar Worldpanel revealed.

Sales growth at privately-owned Germany’s Aldi and Lidl surged 15% and 14.7% respectively, taking their market shares to record highs of 3.3% and 2.6%.
