President of the IFSC John Bruton has said the European Central Bank needs to realise it is operating on the behalf of 17 countries in considering its rates policy.

Mr Bruton made the comment ahead of an anticipated interest rate hike tomorrow - ECB president Jean Claude Trichet is expected to raise rates for the first time since July 2008.
