China's foreign reserves reach US$2.8trn

China’s central bank said its foreign reserves, already the world’s biggest, soared to US$2.8trn at the end of 2010.

Today’s announcement came as Beijing faces demands by Washington and others to ease currency controls that have swelled its reserves.
