ESRI worried about lack of competition in banking sector

An ESRI economist says lack of competition in the banking sector in Europe is a concern.

In Ireland, Bank of Scotland (Ireland) has effectively withdrawn from the market while Anglo and Irish Nationwide are State-controlled.

Professor John Fitzgerald has said less competition means higher prices for consumers.
