Cabin crew to vote on new BA offer

British Airways cabin crew will start voting tomorrow on a new offer aimed at averting fresh strikes in their long-running row with the airline over cost-cutting.

Ballot papers will be sent to thousands of members of Unite, which is making no recommendation on whether to accept or reject the proposed deal.

The airline made the offer last month, saying it addressed crews’ concerns about future earnings and included a firm commitment that staff could keep current pay and conditions.

The cabin crew have staged a series of strikes since March, with the latest sticking point the removal of travel concessions from workers who have taken industrial action.

Voting will take around two weeks, and if the offer is rejected, another ballot will have to be held before there is any more industrial action.
