European Central Bank president Jean Claude Trichet has criticised France and Germany for failing to act sooner to prevent the Eurozone debt problem from reaching crisis proportions.

The ECB chief has said both countries should have showed a better example in upholding the stability and growth pact which was designed to prevent the states using the euro from running large financial deficits.
