Elderfield: Number with mortgage arrears up again

The Financial Regulator Matthew Elderfield has said there has been another increase in the number of homeowners in mortgage arrears.

Speaking to the Insurance Institute of Ireland, Mr Elderfield said figures due out tomorrow will show that mortgage arrears in the first quarter rose again.

He said this is the biggest legacy issue from the financial crisis and is warning there is no "silver bullet solution".
