Burton: Govt may have little say in Anglo future
Labour's Finance Spokesperson Joan Burton has said the Government may have little say in the future of Anglo Irish Bank.
Deputy Burton was responding to comments by Finance Minister Brian Lenihan in the Dáil yesterday that suggest he is now open to a wind-down of Anglo Irish Bank or turning it into a "good bank".
However many believe the likely change in direction is because the EU may not approve Anglo's restructuring plan.
Ms Burton said while she welcomes any option that provides value for the taxpayer, she is wary of such a flip-flop in Government tactics.
