AIG reported to be in Prudential takeover talks

The UK insurance firm Prudential is reported to be in talks with the American insurance group AIG about a £15bn takeover.

It is understood to involve buying the Asian operation of AIG which was bailed out by the US government at the height of the banking crisis.
