Staff costs at ESB continue to rise

It has emerged that the average pay and pension of an ESB worker is nearly €100,000 a year.

Documents have been released showing staff costs at the company continue to escalate despite deflation.

Salary costs rose in 2009 on the back of higher pension contributions and the impact of a 3.5% pay rise awarded under the national wage agreement.
