EU approves increase in broadcasting fund

The European Commission has approved an increase in the Broadcasting Funding Scheme which allows television and radio producers to benefit from an allocation of TV licence fee receipts.

The scheme is designed to support the production and transmission of high quality programming based on all genres of Irish culture, heritage and experience to be funded from the allocation of 7% (previously 5%) of the net licence fee receipts.
