Lower Wii sales hit Nintendo profits

Japanese video games giant Nintendo said today that lower sales and price cuts for its hit Wii console had dented profits for the nine months to December 31.

The company sold 17 million Wiis during the period – almost 3.5 million fewer than a year earlier – as overall group revenues fell more than 23%.
