Galway's Crospon secures FDA approval for reflux-testing tool

Galway-based medical device developer Crospon has received approval form the US Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) for its diagnostic test for gastroesophageal reflux disease EndoFLIP.

The company is now free to sell EndoFLIP in the US.

During 2009, Crospon announced the establishment of a US operation in Carlsbad, California.

Crospon, which employs 17 people in Galway, has also announced the completion of a €2m round of funding.

CEO John O’Dea said: "We are in a critical phase of our development having recently established a US operation and launched the EndoFLIP product into the European market...This investment coupled with the FDA clearance in the US will enable Crospon to continue to develop the EndoFLIP technology."
