Dow up slightly

The Dow Jones industrial average in the US rose 33.18, or 0.3%, to 10,606.86 last night.

The broader Standard & Poor’s 500 index rose 4.55, or 0.4%, to 1,141.69. It was the highest close for both indexes since Oct. 1, 2008.
