Ulster Bank has posted a €104m loss for the first nine months of the year after writing off €336m in bad loans and debts that are unlikely to be repaid.

The bank's parent company is part-nationalised UK lender RBS which this week announced it will need an additional £25bn (€27.9bn) in support from the British government to survive.
