BoI reports slight rise in business start-ups

The number of start-up companies being registered in Ireland increased slightly in the third quarter of this year, according to Bank of Ireland.

The number of start-up companies being registered in Ireland increased slightly in the third quarter of this year, according to Bank of Ireland.

The bank says the number of new firms being registered was up 2.5% on the figure for the previous three-month period.

However, the number was also down 14% on the same period in 2008.

Bank of Ireland says the majority of new business activity is taking place in Dublin.
