Volume of retail sales down 9% in August

The volume of retail sales in Ireland during the month of August was down 9% on the same month last year, according to the latest figures from the CSO.

The statistics agency says the value of retail sales fell by 13.4% over the same period, reflecting falling prices for many goods.
