The Unite trade union is warning Bank of Ireland that it could face major strike action unless it complies with a Labour Court recommendation on merit-based payments for hundreds of employees.

The union has called off a planned stoppage by the 500 workers today, saying it wants to turn down the temperature in the dispute to give the bank time to reflect on its position.
