A dramatic fall in new car registrations is fuelling calls for Government to stimulate vehicle sales along the lines of the US 'cash for clunkers' scheme.
Latest figures from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry show new car sales down two-thirds to the end of August when compared to the same period last year.
