National Irish Bank says it will not be taking part in the Government's scheme to transfer bad bank loans to the new National Asset Management Agency (Nama).

The Government has set up the agency to purchase toxic debts from Irish banks in the hope that it will free them up to resume normal lending to businesses and households.
