Aer Lingus has confirmed plans to introduce major cutbacks in services this winter in an effort to cut costs.

The airline says direct services from Dublin to Washington and San Francisco are being cancelled, along with flights from Shannon to Chicago, while the Shannon to New York route is being kept under review.
