ISEQ down almost 60 points

The ISEQ index of Irish shares was valued at 2,691.21 points at close of trading today, a drop of 57.31.

Index majors on the fallers' board included CRH, down 79c or 4.50% to 16.78; Kerry Group, falling 24c to 16.60; Elan Corp, down 17c to 4.84; Kingspan, 16c off at 4.70; C&C, 9c down at 2.19; Smurfit Kappa, off 8c at 4.00, and Aer Lingus, shedding 2c to 0.67.
