Ahern calls for commercial rent cuts

Justice Minister Dermot Ahern today called on landlords to move away from the practice whereby all rent reviews for commercial properties are "upward".

Evidence is mounting to show that the insistence of landlords pushing up rents at a time when retail turnover is going down is contributing greatly to the closure of hundreds of high street shops around the country.
