The volume of output in Ireland's construction sector was down almost 27% in the final quarter of 2008 compared to the same period in 2007.

The volume of output in Ireland's construction sector was down almost 27% in the final quarter of 2008 compared to the same period in 2007.

The Central Statistics Office says the fall was driven by a 55% decline in residential building work.
