US financial giant Citigroup has said AIB and Bank of Ireland are likely to need another €3bn on top of the €7bn investment they have already received from the Irish taxpayers.

US financial giant Citigroup has said AIB and Bank of Ireland are likely to need another €3bn on top of the €7bn investment they have already received from the Irish taxpayers.

Citigroup has downgraded the two banks and says AIB could require €1.1bn in extra capital, while Bank of Ireland may need €1.8bn.
