ISEQ and European markets down sharply in early trading

European stock markets have taken a major hit in early trading this morning after the Dow Jones Index in the US plummeted to its lowest level in six years last night.

The markets in Britain, Germany and France were all down by between 2.25% and 2.85% just before 9am.
