The ISEQ index of Irish shares fell 17 points to 2,460.78 by 11am.
The financial heavyweights had a positive morning; AIB and Irish Life and Permanent both jumped 2c to €1.20 and €2.08 respectively. Bank of Ireland gained 5c to 75c per share.
